Jérôme Louis Heldring (1917–2013) was a distinguished Dutch journalist and columnist who spent over half a century as a prominent voice in the Netherlands' press. He was a long-time editor-in-chief (1968–1972) and a mainstay columnist for the Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant and later NRC Handelsblad, where he wrote his distinctive weekly column 'Dezer Dagen' from 1960 until his death in 2012. Heldring was known for his sharp intellect and was considered a significant public intellectual and commentator on Dutch social and political life. Beyond his journalism, he contributed to various cultural and social publications, including writing the preface for the photobook 'In de beste tradities' by Catrien Ariëns.[1,2,4]
