Jim Goldberg is an American artist and photographer known for his innovative and multidisciplinary approach to documentary photography. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1953, he began exploring experimental storytelling by combining images with text, drawings, and other illustrative elements. His work often focuses on marginalized populations—those neglected or ignored by mainstream society—through long-term, in-depth collaborations that investigate American myths about race, class, and social justice. He is a member of the Magnum Photos cooperative.
