Jitka Hanzlová

Jitka Hanzlová is a Czech photographer and artist known for her portraiture and exploration of identity, memory, and environment. Born in Náchod, Czechoslovakia, she fled the Communist regime in 1982, settling in West Germany. She studied photography in Essen from 1987 to 1994 and has since established a significant international career. Her work often investigates the relationship between individuals and their surroundings, capturing the invisible ties of homeland and history through a delicate, mysterious aesthetic. She has received numerous prestigious accolades, including the European Photography Award and the BMW Prize at Paris Photo.[1,2,3,4]
