author

Joan Lürsen (1894–1995) was a Dutch architect who collaborated extensively with Jan Buijs. In 1924, the two established an architectural firm in The Hague under the name Bureau Buijs en Lürsen. Their work is characterized by its integration of modern movements such as De Stijl and Bauhaus principles into functionalist architecture. Notable projects include 'De Volharding' (1928) and various residential buildings in Den Haag. Following Jan Buijs's retirement due to illness in 1955, Lürsen continued the firm's operations with a new partner until 1974.[1,2]
