John Fowles

author

John Fowles (1926–2005) was a prominent British novelist known for his postmodern works and literary explorations of history and human nature. Born in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, he studied at the University of Oxford before beginning his career as an author. He gained significant critical acclaim with novels such as 'The Collector' (1963), 'The Hidden Girl' (1974), and 'The Secret Keeper' (1982). His work often explores complex themes of morality, identity, and the intersection of reality and fiction. In addition to his literary career, Fowles was a museum curator and an active participant in intellectual discourse regarding art and history.
