John Rädecker
author
John Rädecker (1885–1956) was a prominent Dutch sculptor, painter, and woodcut artist based in Amsterdam. He is widely recognized for his artistic contribution to the National Monument on Dam Square in Amsterdam. His work was characterized by a versatility across mediums, including wood, clay, and stone, often focusing on the human figure and architectural integration. Rädecker was a significant figure in the Dutch art scene of the early 20th century and served as a mentor to the noted sculptor Hildo Krop, who learned the techniques of woodcarving from him. His graphic works, including woodcuts published in periodicals such as Wendingen in 1919, are preserved in various museum collections and auction records.[1,2,3,4]
