Juan Manuel Castro Prieto

Juan Manuel Castro Prieto is a Spanish photographer and photojournalist born in Madrid in 1958. He holds a degree in Economics from the University of Alcalá de Henares (1980). Since 2000, he has been a member of the Agence Vu. His artistic practice often combines documentary photography with poetic exploration, notably through his extensive work on Peru. In 1990, he traveled to Cuzco to develop negatives by Martín Chambí, an experience that sparked his personal project 'Perú, Viaje al Sol'. He has exhibited internationally in France, the United States, and Spain, and received several awards including the National Photography Prize of Spain (2015) and the Bartolomé Ros Award. His work is characterized by a sensitive exploration of cultural identities and landscapes.[1,2]
