Julia Baier

Julia Baier is a German freelance photographer based in Berlin. She studied photography at the University of the Arts in Bremen and began her career as a photojournalist for publications such as taz. Her artistic work focuses heavily on water and bathing cultures worldwide, having spent significant time documenting these subjects in Japan, Hungary, Iceland, and Lithuania. Baier is known for her series 'The Public Baths' (Die öffentliche Badeanstalt) and has published several monographs with Peperoni Books, including 'Sento - The Japanese Bathhouse' (2008), 'Water Matters' (2013), and 'In Tune – Variations on an Orchestra' (2015). She is a member of the laif cooperative and the international street photography collective UP Photographers. In addition to her artistic practice, she works as a lecturer at art colleges and conducts international workshops.[1,2,3,4,5]
