Julio Cortázar was a prominent Argentine novelist, poet, and essayist, a key figure in the Latin American 'Boom' literature of the 1960s and 70s. Born in Belgium to Argentine parents, he moved to Buenos Aires as a child. He is widely celebrated for his innovative narrative techniques, including metafiction and surrealism, which are prominently displayed in his masterpiece 'Rayuela' (Hopscotch). Beyond his literary fame, Cortázar was also a dedicated photographer, notably capturing images of astronomical observatories in India, which he paired with meditative prose in his 1972 work 'Prosa del observatorio'.[1,2]
