Käte Steinitz (1889–1975) was a German-American artist, writer, and art historian who played a significant role in the preservation of Dadaist and Bauhaus art. Born into an upper-class Jewish family in Upper Silesia, she studied under Käthe Kollwitz and Lovis Corinth in Berlin before moving to Hanover in 1917. In Hanover, she became a central figure in the avant-garde scene, hosting a famous salon where she collaborated with Kurt Schwitters and Theo van Doesburg on works like 'Die Scheuche: Märchen'. She later emigrated to the United States in 1935, where she worked as a journalist and continued her work as an art historian and collector.[1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8]
