Kees Scherer

Kees Scherer (1920–1993) was a prominent Dutch documentary photographer known for his work in Amsterdam and across Europe. A member of the first wave of post-war professional documentary photographers in the Netherlands, he was celebrated as the 'veritable poet of light' for his mastery of backlighting and raking light. His archive includes over 50,000 black-and-white images and thousands of color slides. He collaborated with various authors, including Evert Werkman, on books documenting Dutch life and landscapes.[1]
