Koentjaraningrat (1923–1999) was a prominent Indonesian anthropologist and academic, widely regarded as the 'Father of Indonesian Anthropology.' Born into the Pakualaman royal family in Yogyakarta, he received a Dutch education before pursuing anthropology in the United States. He became a leading figure in the study of Indonesian culture, ethnicity, and social structures, serving as a professor at the University of Indonesia. His work bridged traditional Javanese cultural insights with modern anthropological methodologies.[1,2,5]
