Leendert Blok

photographer

Leendert Blok (1895–1986) was a Dutch photographer recognized as one of the most important pioneers of color photography in the Netherlands. He began his career early, experimenting with various chemical processes and techniques, including the Autochrome Lumière process. In the 1920s, he worked closely with flower producers to create high-quality color prints and autochromes for their display catalogs. His work is characterized by a singular approach where flowers are captured as sculptural objects of desire, emphasizing texture and formal richness.[1,2,3,4,5]
