Leïla Sebbar is a French-Algerian novelist and essayist born in Aflou, Algeria, on November 9, 1941. The daughter of an Algerian father and a French mother, she moved to Paris at the age of seventeen. Her literary work frequently explores themes of exile, cultural identity, and the relationship between France and Algeria. She is known for her nuanced portrayal of the 'Beur' generation—the second generation of Maghribi youth in France.^[1]
