Leonard de Vries

Leonard de Vries (1919–2002) was a Dutch author known for his popular science literature and children's books. Born in Semarang, Dutch East Indies, he moved to the Netherlands and worked as a chemical/physical laboratory technician before dedicating himself to writing. During World War II, he lived in hiding in Beugt due to his Jewish heritage; his parents were murdered in the Sobibór concentration camp. He became well-known for his 'Jongens Radioboek' series, which taught children how to build radio equipment, and founded the 'Hobby Club.' His work spanned various subjects including electronics, chemistry, astronomy, and nature. He was a prolific compiler of educational books and wrote several memoirs and non-fiction works about Dutch history and technology.[4,5]
