Li Wei is a contemporary Chinese performance artist and photographer based in Beijing. He first gained significant international recognition in 2000 during the Shanghai Biennial for his performance work. He is best known for his 'Falls' series, which features self-portrait photography of him falling and embedding his head and chest into various surfaces. His work explores themes of physical endurance, the human condition, and social reflection through a lens of gravity-defying, often visceral imagery.[1,2,3]
