Lluís Monreal i Agustí is a prominent Spanish art historian, archaeologist, and museum professional. Born in Barcelona in 1942, he has held significant leadership roles, including Director General of the Fundación «la Caixa» (1990–2001) and Director of the Getty Conservation Institute in Los Angeles (1985–1990). He served as Secretary General of ICOM (UNESCO) from 1974 to 1985. His expertise spans museum management, architectural conservation, and art history, with a focus on diverse cultures including Egyptian, Nubian, and Islamic art.[1,2]
