Louis Clyde Stoumen (1917–1991), known as Lou Stoumen, was a prominent American photographer, filmmaker, and educator. Born in Pennsylvania, he studied at Lehigh University before beginning his career in the late 1930s. He is widely recognized for his documentary work, which spanned diverse subjects including World War II servicemen, street scenes in New York City (notably Times Square), and portraits of figures like Raymond Chandler. Stoumen was a multi-award-winning filmmaker, receiving two Academy Awards: one in 1957 for 'The True Story of the Civil War' and another in 1963 for 'Black Fox: The Rise and Fall of Adolf Hitler.' He served as a professor at UCLA's Film Department.
