Lucas Foglia
photographer
Lucas Foglia is an American photographer based in San Francisco. He grew up on a small family farm in New York state and graduated from Brown University and the Yale School of Art (MFA). His work explores the relationships between people, economy, and wilderness in rural America, specifically focusing on 'rewilding' communities and individuals living off the grid in the southeastern United States for environmental, religious, or economic reasons. Foglia's photography is noted for its intimacy and privileged access to his subjects, often documenting a complex intersection of modern technology (like cell phones and solar panels) with traditional rural lifestyles. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in permanent collections including the International Center of Photography, Foam Fotografiemuseum, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Victoria & Albert Museum.[1,2]
