Marjoleine Boonstra

Marjoleine Boonstra is a Dutch visual artist, filmmaker, and photographer. Born in Groningen in 1959, she graduated from the Academy Minerva in 1984 and later studied at the Netherlands Film and Television Academy in Amsterdam (1985-1989). Her artistic practice spans various mediums including documentary and fiction films, video installations, and photography. She is known for her documentary work which often explores social themes and the human condition, frequently focusing on the resilience of people facing adversity. She has received numerous awards for her work, including the L.J. Jordaan Prize from the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts in 2002. Her photographic work has been featured in various museum exhibitions, such as the Fotokabinetten series at the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag.[1,2,4,5,6,7,8]
