Mark Power

Mark Power is a British photographer, author, and educator. Born in 1959 in Harpenden, UK, he originally studied painting and life-drawing at art college before turning to photography in 1983. He spent nearly a decade in the editorial and charity sectors before becoming a Senior Lecturer and later Professor of Photography at the University of Brighton, where he taught until 2017. Power is a prominent member of the Magnum Photos collective, joining as a nominee in 2002 and becoming a full member in 2007. His work is characterized by long-term, self-initiated projects and large-scale industrial commissions, often documenting architectural transformations and industrial landscapes. He has published 11 books, including notable works on maritime weather reports, the Millennium Dome, and the restoration of historical monuments. His photography has been exhibited internationally and is held in numerous public and private collections worldwide.[1,2,3,4,5]
