Matthew Sleeth

Matthew Sleeth is an Australian filmmaker, theatre director, and visual artist based in New York. His work explores aesthetic and conceptual concerns of New Media, blending the rigour of 1960s Conceptual Art with the sensory drama of the Romantics across a diverse mix of processes, including photography, film, sculpture, installation, publishing, and live performance. He began his photographic career with several monographs, including 'Roaring Days' (1998) and 'Tour of Duty' (2002). In 2001, he was named one of Australia's 50 most collectable artists. He holds a Ph.D. in New Media from RMIT University and is currently a visiting post-doc at Columbia University. His work is held in major public collections worldwide, including the National Gallery of Australia and the National Portrait Gallery.[1,2,3]
