Michel Frizot
author
Michel Frizot is a French historian and theorist of photography. He has played a pioneering role in France by working to recognize all photographic practices and reconsidering the reception of photography based on the circumstances of its capture. After studying at the University of Dijon, he began teaching history of art and later became a specialist in the history of photography. He was a key figure in the creation of the 'Nouvelle Histoire de la Photographie' (1994), which revolutionized the field by expanding the scope of photographic study to include press photography, amateur practices, and popular uses. Frizot has held various academic positions, including teaching at the École du Louvre and the EHESS, and has authored numerous works on technical innovations, specific photographers like Étienne-Jules Marey, and the semiotics of images.[1,2]
