Mike Disfarmer

photographer

Mike Disfarmer (born Mike Meyer) was an American portrait photographer who operated a private studio in the small town of Heber Springs, Arkansas, from 1917 to 1956. Known for his eccentric personality and outsider status, he documented the lives of residents during significant historical periods, including World War I, the Great Depression, and World War II. His work is characterized by a mastery of studio portraiture using antiquated glass-plate negatives. After his death in 1959, much of his work remained unknown until a major reclamation project rediscovered original vintage prints from family albums across Cleburne County.[1,2,3]
