Mirelle Thijsen

Mirelle Thijsen is a Dutch photography historian and critic based in Amsterdam. She founded the International Photography Research (IPhoR) organization in 1988. Her academic background includes a doctoral thesis defended at Utrecht University in 2000 titled 'L'Album photographique dans l'entreprise au Pays-Bas 1945-1965'. Thijsen has served as an exhibition curator for numerous projects, including 'Hommages & Remakes' (1988), 'Grotesque' (1989), and 'Virtue & Vice' (1997-1998). Since 1993, she has written photography criticism for the Dutch newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad, and since 2002, she has taught the history of photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Maastricht.[2]
