Naoki Ishikawa

Naoki Ishikawa is a Japanese photographer and author born in Tokyo in 1977. He holds a B.F.A. from Waseda University (2002), an M.F.A. from the Tokyo University of the Arts (2005), and a Ph.D. from the same institution (2008). His work is characterized by a deep interest in anthropology and ethnology, leading him to travel extensively to diverse environments ranging from urban centers to remote wilderness regions. He is renowned for his mountaineering achievements, having summited all fourteen of the world's 8,000-meter peaks. His photographic practice often explores themes of landscape, light, and human presence in extreme environments. His works are held in numerous public collections globally, including the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo and the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography.[1,2]
