Otto Maximilian Umbehr

Otto Maximilian Umbehr (1902–1980), known as Umbo, was a German photojournalist and artist. He studied at the Bauhaus in Weimar under Johannes Itten starting in 1921. After moving to Berlin in 1923, he became a prominent figure in modern photography, often associated with the 'New German Photography' movement. His work is characterized by its focus on street scenes, portraits of the 'New Woman,' and experimental techniques including photomontages and collages. He was a pioneer in using photography as an artistic medium to capture the aesthetics of modernity.[1,2]
