Patricia Bosworth

Patricia Bosworth (1933–2020) was an American journalist, biographer, memoirist, and actress. Born Patricia Crum in Oakland, California, she studied at Sarah Lawrence College before pursuing a career in acting, notably appearing in several Broadway productions and television series. In the mid-1960s, she transitioned to journalism, holding various editorial positions at publications including McCall's, Harper's Bazaar, and Vanity Fair. She became widely recognized for her acclaimed biographies of prominent figures such as Montgomery Clift, Diane Arbus, Marlon Brando, and Jane Fonda. Her work often explored the intersection of private lives and public personas, particularly within the context of 20th-century American culture. Bosworth was also a faculty member at Columbia University's school of journalism and Barnard College.
