Paul-Tijs Goldschmidt

Paul-Tijs Goldschmidt is a Dutch writer and evolutionary biologist. He studied biology in Amsterdam and Leiden before spending several years (1981–1986) in Tanzania as a researcher at the University of Leiden, where he specialized in cichlid fishes in Lake Victoria. In 1993, he transitioned from scientific research to full-time writing. His work often blends scientific observation with personal narrative and cultural reflection. He has received numerous awards for his science communication and essays, including the Eurekaprijs (1995), the Jan Hanlo Essay Prize (2001), the Jan Wolkers Prize (2022), and the P.C. Hooft Prize (2023). Since 2008, he has served as an advisor at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten.[1,2,3,4]
