Pierre-Jean Amar

Pierre-Jean Amar is a French photographer and historian of photography. Born in Algiers in 1947, he lives and works in La Tour-d'Aigues, Vaucluse. He has held the position of lecturer in the history of photography at the University of Provence Aix-Marseille I for 18 years. His artistic practice spans various themes including landscapes, still lifes, interiors, and portraits. Notably, his work on the human form includes a series of nudes published in several volumes, such as 'Nus' (1990). He has organized numerous exhibitions across France and internationally and is known for his contributions to photographic history and theory.[1,2]
