Pierre Seghers

Pierre Seghers was a prominent French poet, publisher, and member of the Resistance during World War II. Born in Paris in 1906, he dedicated himself to poetry starting in 1938. During the war, he published clandestine works under various pseudonyms (such as Louis Maste or Paul Rutgers) and founded the review 'Poésie 40'. Post-war, he was a leading figure in French poetry publishing, founding Éditions de la Tour (1938) and Éditions Seghers. He is known for his significant contributions to the preservation of French poetic heritage, including authoring several reference works on French poetry and its history during the Resistance.[1]
