Rimaldas Vikšraitis

photographer

Rimaldas Vikšraitis is a Lithuanian photographer known for his artistic documentary photographs of rural life in his native Lithuania. He graduated from the Vilnius Technical School No. 47 with a specialization in photography and worked as a studio photographer in Šakiai for ten years before focusing on his own work. His practice focuses on capturing realistic, often surreal images of modern-day Lithuanian countryside, depicting themes of drunkenness, poverty, and the disintegration of village life with a mix of humor and dark undertones. He gained significant international recognition in 2009 when he won the Discovery Award at the Rencontres d'Arles photography festival, having been nominated by Martin Parr.[1,3,4]
