Roberta Valtorta is an Italian art historian, photographer critic, and researcher specialized in the history of photography. She has held various roles, including Vice President of the SISF (Società Italiana per lo Studio della Fotografia). Her research focuses on the evolution of photographic language, the documentation of cultural heritage, and the relationship between photography and social memory. She has curated numerous exhibitions and authored several books and academic papers on these topics. Notably, she collaborated with photographer Gabriele Basilico on several publications, including 'Porti di mare', where she provided text contributions exploring the intersection of urban spaces and photographic narration.
