Roni Horn

Roni Horn is an American visual artist and writer born in New York City in 1955. The granddaughter of Eastern European immigrants, she graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1975 and Yale University in 1978. Her practice is deeply influenced by the landscape, geology, and climate of Iceland, a country she has visited frequently since the 1970s. Horn is known for her diverse range of media, including text-based sculptures, installations, paintings, and a series of photobooks. Her work often explores themes of water, weather, and the cyclical relationship between humankind and nature. She is openly gay and has been represented by galleries such as Xavier Hufkens and Hauser & Wirth. Her notable works include 'You Are the Weather' (1994-1996), a photographic installation, and the ongoing series 'To Place', which documents the Icelandic landscape through photography and watercolor.[1,2,3,4,5]
