Roy Emerson Stryker

Roy Emerson Stryker was an American economist, government official, and photographer who headed the Information Division of the Farm Security Administration (FSA) during the Great Depression. He is best known for launching the FSA's documentary photography program, which hired photographers to document rural life across the United States. After his government service, he worked on a public relations project for Standard Oil and established the Pittsburgh Photographic Library. His work was instrumental in creating a visual record of American history during the 1930s.[1]
