Sara Blokland
author · photographer
Sara Blokland is a Dutch photographer and visual artist based in Amsterdam. Her creative practice frequently investigates the complexities of family life, domestic environments, and the interplay between personal memory and staged reality. One of her significant early works is 'fam.' (2001), a series of 26 portraits capturing four family members within their shared interior space. Blokland's work often bridges the gap between photography and performance, as demonstrated in her series 'Related: A Photographic Performance' (2007). Her research-based approach has led to explorations of postcolonial themes and artistic research in contemporary photography. She has exhibited her work in various venues, including the Van Zoetendaal Gallery.[1,2]
