Shelley Rice

Shelley Rice is an American art historian and critic who specializes in the study of photography and visual culture. She has lectured on these subjects across the United States, Europe, South America, Asia, Australia, and Africa. A 1992 Guggenheim Fellow, Rice is the author of several influential publications, including 'Parisian Views' (1997), 'Inverted Odysseys: Claude Cahun, Maya Deren, Cindy Sherman' (1999), and 'The Book of 101 Books' (2001). She currently holds a faculty position at New York University (NYU), where she teaches in both the Department of Photography and Imaging at the Tisch School of the Arts and the Institute of Fine Arts. Her work frequently examines the intersection of image-making, memory, archive, and identity.[1,2]
