Teun Voeten

Teun Voeten is a Dutch war photographer, anthropologist, and writer based in New York and Brussels. He studied cultural anthropology and philosophy at Leiden University before moving to New York, where he studied at the School of Visual Arts in 1989. His work focuses on 'la condition humaine,' specifically documenting conflict zones, human rights violations, and social issues globally. He has reported from Bosnia, Haiti, Rwanda, Afghanistan, Sudan, Sierra Leone, Colombia, and Mexico. Voeten is known for his participant observation techniques, notably living with a homeless community in Manhattan's tunnels to produce his first book. His photography has been used by major international relief organizations including the International Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, UNICEF, UNHCR, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch.[1,2]
