Thomas Flechtner is a Swiss photographer born in Winterthur in 1961. He studied photography at the École Supérieure d'Arts Appliqués (Applied Arts School) in Vevey from 1983 to 1987. Since beginning his freelance career in 1987, he has gained international recognition for his exploration of the natural world, particularly through his extensive photographic examinations of snow. His work is characterized by a sense of timelessness and stillness, often capturing the transformation of both civilization and untouched landscapes under the weight of snow. He spent four years exclusively devoted to the 'Snow' series, which culminated in a major publication in 2002. Flechtner lives and works between Valliere, France, and Zurich, Switzerland.[1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10]
