Thomas Höpker

Thomas Höpker was a prominent German photojournalist and photographer. He studied art history in Munich from 1955 to 1959 before beginning his career as a photojournalist for various magazines. In 1964, he joined the magazine 'Stern', where he spent many years documenting significant historical events and social life. He was a member of the GDL (Gesellschaft Deutscher Lichtbildner) from 1965 to 1973 and later worked as a cameraman and television producer starting in 1970. After 1976, he held editorial positions for 'Stern' and 'Geo' while continuing his long-term photography projects. He was known for his work documenting life in East Germany (DDR) and New York City. He joined Magnum Photos as a photographer.[1,2,3]
