Thomas Joshua Cooper is a prominent contemporary landscape photographer of Cherokee descent. Born in San Francisco in 1946, he received his bachelor's degree from Humboldt State University in Arcata, California, in 1969. He has lived in Scotland for many years and serves as the founding head of photography at the Glasgow School of Art. His work is characterized by a unique, private vision that explores tribal territories, rituals, and myths across Australia, the United States, Scotland, England, and Wales. Cooper is recognized for his beautifully rendered, dark landscape photographs and has received several accolades, including a Guggenheim Fellowship.[1,2,3,4,5]
