Tony Evans
author · photographer
Tony Evans was a prominent British post-war photographer who achieved significant success in both editorial and advertising fields. He first gained recognition in the 1960s with editorial work for publications such as Vogue, Tatler, The Sunday Times, and Nova. His commercial photography also won numerous awards during this period. In the 1970s, Evans collaborated on several award-winning books, including 'The English Sunrise' (with Brian Rice), 'The Flowering Of Britain' (with Richard Mabey), and 'English Cottages' (with Candida Lycett-Green). His work was featured on four sets of commemorative stamps for the Royal Mail in the 1980s. In his later years, his interests shifted toward nature photography, culminating in a limited edition set of time-lapse prints titled 'Iris Flowering,' which are held in private collections and at The Houston Museum Of Fine Art.[1]
