Ute Eskildsen

Ute Eskildsen is a German photographer, photohistorian, and curator. She studied photography and the history of photography at the Folkwang School of Portraiture in Essen under Otto Steinert and Erich vom Endt. Starting in 1978, she built up the photography department at Museum Folkwang in Essen and served as its head until 2012. From 1991 to 2012, she also served as the deputy director of the museum. She is a prominent figure in the institutionalization of artistic photography, having curated numerous major exhibitions worldwide and authored several significant catalogs on photographic history.[1,4,5,6,7]
