Valdemar Hansen Elenbaas

Valdemar Hansen (Wally) Elenbaas was a Dutch photographer, sculptor, graphic designer, and painter. He began his artistic career in the late 1920s, influenced by the 'Nieuwe Fotografie' movement and associated with the communist youth movements of the time. After World War II, he focused on lithography and later moved into silk-screen printing before returning to photography in the 1980s. He was known for his social engagement and artistic versatility, creating works ranging from monumental mosaics and murals to intimate portraiture. He lived and worked with his wife, Esther Hartog, on Katendrecht in Rotterdam for many years. His work is held in several major collections, including the Nederlands Fotomuseum.[1,2]
