Viviane Sassen
photographer
Viviane Sassen is a Dutch artist and photographer based in Amsterdam. Born in 1972, she spent her childhood in Kenya before returning to the Netherlands in 1978. She initially studied fashion design at Arnhem's University of the Arts but transitioned into photography, eventually receiving an MFA from the Royal Academy in Arnhem. Sassen is recognized for her distinctive aesthetic that blends fine art and fashion photography, characterized by geometric shapes, abstracted bodies, and a bold use of color. Her work often explores themes of physical contact and movement, inspired by her experiences in Africa. She has collaborated with major brands such as Miu Miu, Stella McCartney, and Louis Vuitton, and her work is held in significant collections including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).[1,2,3]
