Walter Trier (1890–1951) was a Czech-German illustrator best known for his work on children's books by Erich Kästner and his cover designs for the magazine Lilliput. Born in Prague, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Franz Stuck before moving to Berlin, where he established himself as a prominent caricaturist and book artist. An anti-fascist who fled Nazi Germany in 1936, Trier lived in London during World War II, contributing to British propaganda efforts for the Ministry of Information.
