Willem Frederik Hermans (1921–1995) was a prominent Dutch author of poetry, novels, short stories, plays, and literary criticism. Born in Amsterdam, he studied physical geography and became a lecturer at the University of Groningen before moving to Paris and later Brussels to focus on his writing career. Known for his caustic style and complex literary constructions, Hermans' work often explored themes of knowledge theory, existentialism, and human behavior. Beyond his literary output, he was also an active photographer, producing works such as 'Koningin Eenoog', which served as a catalogue for an exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam in 1986.[1,2]
