Wim Ruigrok

Wim Ruigrok is a Dutch photographer who became the first permanent photographer for the newspaper 'de Volkskrant' in 1966. Born in Oosterhout, he moved to Amsterdam in 1962 after working as a jewelry photographer in Rotterdam. His work is characterized by an intense personal involvement with urban development and architecture, documenting both the destruction and construction of Amsterdam over several decades. He has also contributed extensively to 'Ons Amsterdam' and was known for his 'Bouwen & slopen' (Building & Demolishing) column.[1,2]
