Xavier Ribas

Xavier Ribas is a Spanish photographer and academic who lives and works between Barcelona and Brighton, England. He studied Social Anthropology at the University of Barcelona (graduating in 1990) and Documentary Photography at the Newport School of Art, Media and Design in Great Britain (graduating in 1993). His photographic work investigates contested sites, histories, memories, urban transformations, peripheral landscapes, and the legacies of industrial extraction. He is a senior lecturer at the University of Brighton and a visiting lecturer at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. His works are held in major collections including the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Fonds National d'Art Contemporain (FNAC) in France, and the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León (MUSAC).[1,2,3]
