Carl de Keyzer's 'Zona - Siberian Prison Camps' is a visually striking photo essay that provides a rare, colorful look into the lives of prisoners in Siberian camps. The work explores the intersection of spectacle, consumer capitalism, and intense spiritual devotion. Keyzer gained rare access to these facilities to document the human experience behind the bars, creating a hallucinatory, dream-like atmosphere through his brilliant use of color. The book serves as both a documentary record of the prison system and an artistic exploration of the environments and people within them.
